Blind man who fell into subway tracks saved by guide dog
A 61-year-old blind man named Cecil Williams fell onto the subway tracks in New York. Thanks to his seeing eye dog, Orlando, quickly jumped down, licked his face to wake him up, and they both survived by ducking UNDER an oncoming train.
Then the story took a sad turn when it was revealed that Cecil wouldn't be able to KEEP the dog, because it turns 11 next month and has to RETIRE. Unfortunately, Cecil’s insurance won't cover the cost of non-service dogs, and Cecil can't afford a pet.
Well, I'm happy to report that's no longer the case, because a businessman in New Jersey has offered to pay for Orlando's expenses for the rest of his LIFE! And an animal center in New York has offered him free medical care.
But it looks like Cecil can now pay some OTHER bills too. Because for the past three days, people have been donating to his cause on IndieGoGo.com and GoFundMe.com.
And the last time we checked, the total was over 110 THOUSAND DOLLARS! If you want to donate, the IndieGoGo campaign runs through December 31st. Also, Cecil will be getting a NEW guide dog that WILL be covered by his insurance.
