The 118th Boston Marathon is scheduled for April 21, and 50-year-old Elinor Scott plans to complete it despite the fact that she was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer.
Last year, Elinor was less than a mile away from the finish line when the two bombs went off during the Boston bombing. Due to the bombing, she, obviously, never got to finish the race.
She is now refusing to let her own personal tragedy keep her from achieving her goal of finishing the Boston Marathon.
Sadly, last month, Elinor was diagnosed with stage 4 pancreatic cancer.
“They tell you what they’re going to tell you about stage IV cancer. They don’t really offer you any promises,” Scott said. “Right now I’m just very focused on seeing what kind of life, any life, I can have on the other side of this journey. Because I just want to live.”
