Graduation season is in full-swing right now, leaving me wanting to ensure that our newly released grads are prepare to take on the world.
The other day I was conversing with one of my friends and he told me he went into the medical field to HELP people...but he spends most of his time doing PAPERWORK and less time actually helping people. Of course jobs are never as advertised and we never really know what the job is going to be all about. To help out our newly graduated, listen below to listen for some insight.
Today is my wife's birthday, but the thing is...she doesn't want ANYTHING for her birthday. I have not a clue what to give her and she has not given me any idea as to what she wants.
Before I go home today, I NEED to figure out what to get her. Of course I opened up the floor for some advice because you all have brains unlike myself. Listen below to hear what people have to say...and please feel free to chime in with some ideas in our comment section.
A neighbor of mine lost a part of her specially made earring the other day. Understandably upset and panicking, a friend of hers quickly jumped to action and went to her center vac. Initially I thought, "WHAT ARE YOU DOING!?" just before she turned it on, she placed pantyhose over it. In less than a minute..BOOM...there was the piece of the earring, BRILLIANT!
I did some quick fact checking and apparently the average life span of your average pantyhose is 2 months! With this fact and the story of my neighbor, it got me thinking - what else can you do with them?
Listen below to hear all the ingenious things you can do with PANTYHOSE!
The Boston Marathon bombing was a major tragedy that will never be forgotten. Even in the light of this tragic event, tremendous good is bound to be found -- from the first responders running straight in to harms way to help others, to the marathon runners that continued running straight to the hospital donate blood, and those who lived near the course to help out the runners.
A local runner, Diana from Lee Summit remarks about how wonderful the fellow Bostonians were in assisting. Listen below to hear Diana recall her experience.
Yesterday was a tragic day that will forever live in history. Not a whole lot makes sense right now, but it must be even more confusing for our kids.
Hillary and I purchased a new television because our old one went out yesterday. After setting up the new TV, the kids obviously wanted to give it test drive. By the time the TV was setup, it was time for the evening news, where, of course, it was all about the Boston Mararthon boming. We allow our kids to watch the special regarding this tragedy, leaving us to attempt to explain this our kids.
How in the world do you go about explain tragedies like this to your kids? I asked the question to our listeners. Listen below to help make sense of all of this.
Do you think it is NORMAL to think about your ex-sweetheart. . . A LOT?
We had an anonymous caller this morning tell us about how she has been thinking about her highschool sweetheart. She is happily married -- they been together for 7 years --, have 3 kids together, and going strong, but she can't shake the thought of her ex-sweetheart.
This anonymous caller is wondering if this is normal. I think of my ex-girlfriend, who I dated for 4 years, from time-to-time, but she is not constantly on my mind. Apparently our anonymous caller thinks of her ex-sweetheart quite frequently, and has yet to tell her husband. Is this normal? Should she tell her husband? Listen below to hear the advice from our listeners. Thank you to everyone who offered up some advice for our anonymous friend in need.
How do you feel when someone who DOESN'T have kids gives parenting advice? Do they even have the right?
Arlene from Kansas City, age 26, gave us a call this morning explaining why she gives parenting advice -- but she isn't a parent herself. It is obvious that she is an intelligent woman, very outspoken, and quite passionate about her position. . .but is it okay?
I opened up the floor to see what parents have to say about this. Listen below to find out more!
Which hurts more -- child birth or a fastball to the groin?
Last week, Mets player Jordany Valdespin received plently of attention after taking Justin Verlander's fastball to the crotch -- and he wasn’t wearing a cup. This lead me to a debate with midday host, Nycki Pace, about which event experiences has the most amount of pain: child birth or a fastball to the groin.
Of course I sided with the fastball to the groin, though to be fair, I opened up the debate to our listeners. Listen below to hear the ultimate pain experience!
What words do your friends mispronounce that drive you NUTS!? There is this one local TV reporter that says, "ofTen" instead of just "often" -- the "t" is silent! Hearing this particular reporter just drives me absolutely bonkers!
But that got me wondering: is there anyone you know who mispronouncates words that drives you crazy? Listen below to hear what other listeners have to say.
If you happened to catch The Oscars last night, you know that Jennifer Lawrence fell flat on her face when going on stage to recieve her award. I thought that she played it off very well, but you have to know, for a fleeting moment, she had to the feel like most embrassed person in nation -- oh, the HORROR!
That got me thinking -- has anyone else out there fell down in front of a large group of people? I posed the question to POINT listeners this morning. Listen below to hear their horror stories! Hopefully none of these stories have happened to you!
