You've seen a CHILD have a temper tantrum, but have you ever seen THIS?

Whether you've been the parent they're melting down in front of, or just an onlooker in the aisle of Target THANKING GOD that you don't have to deal with the repercussions, we've all seen a temper tantrum or two in our day.  Have you ever seen one, though, from a fur-covered friend?

This video of Luka the husky having a temper tantrum is pretty priceless...and unlike a child...he actually obeys in the end!

And no, I wouldn't be laughing if I was his "parent," but as an onlooker, this is pretty funny!

Guess WHO was flirting behind the scenes of 90210!

If you're a child of 90s TV like me, you've probably heard that there was plenty of dating going on behind the scenes of some of our favorite TV shows.  Heck, the ENTIRE cast of Saved By The Bell practically dated EVERYONE else on set!

But THIS behind the scenes flirting from US Weekly had me a little shocked.  And maybe a little disturbed!
(You may want to go find your old CD of "Stacy's Mom" while you read this!)

Not sleeping well? TRY THIS!

If you're anything like me, you sometimes go to bed with a lot on your mind... work stuff, family stuff, bills 'n stuff...but it may not be any of that stuff that's causing you to have a bad night's sleep.  It COULD be this!

NO...not dreams of Mark Paul Gosselaar from your youth.
It's that CELL PHONE sitting on your bedside table!  Although today's phones aren't as awkward as the one Zach Morris carried around, they do transmit a small amount of low-grade radiation (YES -- RADIATION) that experts say could cause you to (1) stay awake longer, and (2) not sleep as deeply.  The result: you're not as rested, you're not as focused, and you're generally not feeling as much like yourself.

I thought back to the timeline of when I started feeling less and less rested.  For me, it was in 2009...the same year I bought my first smart phone.  Hmmm...conicidence, anyone?  I think YES!

Last night, I moved my cell phone to the back room and plugged it into our computer to charge.  Sure thing, I slept better.  Could it be a placebo effect?  Maybe for the first night...but I'm going to try it for the next few weeks and report back!

If you'd like to read more, this article from the Huffington Post gives you some other good tips about sleeping better and how you can wake up a little more rested.

If you move your cell phone out of your bedroom too, drop me a note and let me know how it goes for you.  Here's to a BETTER NIGHT'S SLEEP!

"The Good Outnumber You...And..."

You may have heard the name PATTON OSWALT before, and chances are you've seen him on TV or in a movie in passing.  But, after yesterday's bombing at the Boston Marathon, he's making a name for himself as a bit of a motivational speaker.  Or, at least a "motivational socializer," so to speak.  His Facebook post spread almost INSTANTANEOULSLY...and although it's not going to right the wrongs of yesterday, it may help you feel a little better going forward.  Read on!

(Note -- he uses some strong language -- don't be shocked)

Clothes from the 90s? Yep...they WERE weird!

When I was going to high school and college in the 90s, I didn't think twice about wearing my oversized flannel shirts, my airwalks, my sweater vest (senior picture!), but more and more, I'm beginning to notice...yep...90s fashions weren't THAT great after all!

Case and POINT: THIS website featuring the many looks of Justin Timberlake.  If you remember Justin wearing it and thinking, "ehhh, that's an odd choice," it's on the site.

Check it out.  After all, it's easier to laugh at his fashion misfortunes than to look through our OWN senior pictures, right?

Thinking about having your child take music lessons? Here's why you SHOULD...

As I've shared before during our Christmas Choir Competition last December, I've been playing music since is was 4.  Yep -- I was the one that couldn't go out to play until I did my 20 minutes of piano practice (which, as you can see to the left, didn't help my street cred).  I fought with my parents over piano lessons; I threatened to quit more times than I can count, and it wasn't until I was in 8th or 9th grade that I realized I actually had learned something pretty special that not everyone else knew.

About that time, I picked up playing the drums as well.  Through high school, I was the QUINTESSENTIAL band geek.  Marching band...concert band...pep band...jazz band...choir band...orchestra band...pit band... yep, I played in them all, even conducting a little bit for our basketball games my senior year.  When I got to college, I tried marching band for a little bit, but eventually, moved on from performing.  (After all, there was a college radio station to work at.  And beer to drink!)  But through it all, I realized that I had some special talents from my music background.  I also knew that participating in music through elementary school, high school, and into college, taught me a lot about hard work and discipline...but no one had put it all in writing until I read THIS.  If you played an instrument in school, you're UNDOUBTEDLY going to relate to a few of the examples this former tuba player points out.  AND, if you've ever thought that your kid might have an interest in music, the author points out just a FEW things that this may help your child with -- well beyond the scope of just playing the tuba...or the trumpet...or the piano...or whatever!

So check out this article by Andrew Schwartz; it's worth the 5 minutes read -- along with the self-actualization that those of us who grew up with music will experience...and the future opportunities it could bring to someone's life who could gain SO MUCH by exploring their creative side in the world of music.

What does THAT dream mean?

Earlier this morning, Kelly Urich was talking about dreams and what they mean...this after Nycki arrived today all paranoid about a dream she had about swimming -- which, according to DreamMoods.com, symbolizes "relaxation, calmness, luxury, and ease."

Mine last night?  Yep...I had a dream that someone was trying to SHOOT ME, which indicates that I might be "experiencing some confrontation in your waking life. You may be feeling victimized in some situation."

(Kelly Urich?  Victimizing me?  NEVER! :-)

If you'd like to learn a little bit more on how your brain my be manifesting you feelings into dreams, check out the Dream Moods Dictionary.  I think you'll be surprised how accurate it is -- and how much cheaper than a therapist it is!  Enjoy!
