Kelly Urich

Kelly Urich could be described with a lot of words: radio host, staff germophobe, resident ball of energy.  But perhaps most importantly, Kelly loves Kansas City and spreading the word about cool things going on here in our hometown.

He was born and raised in Poplar Bluff, MO.  We’re pretty sure this is where Kelly developed his love of talk—do to the fact that he had to move to KC since he ran out of people to hound back home.  Kelly came to KC in 1989 for his 1st job spinning Hair Bands at KXXR-FM.  Since then, he’s been a fixture on Kansas City radio, joining 99.7 The Point as morning host in 2011.  He’s been a longtime supporter of numerous area charities, including the MS Society, for which he hosts the annual “BIKE MS” ride from Kansas City to Lawrence.

And not much stops Kelly from making it into work either.  During the big “double whammy” snowstorm in February 2013, Kelly fired up a 4-Wheeler ATV to make it into the studio and keep us all informed of the crazy conditions.

He’s married to the lovely Hillary (who, he admits, is way too good for him), and they live in Johnson County with their two daughters, cat, and dog.  In his free time, you’ll see him cycling in your neighborhood, and reminding friends and family alike about the time he guest starred on “Party of Five.”

Start your day with Kelly and Nycki in the Morning, weekdays from 6-10am, and although we can’t guarantee you’ll walk away smarter, thinner, and with a bigger bank account, he will do his best to get your day started with some energy, and some fun.  And maybe an extra bottle of purell.
