So, I'm taking an interesting plunge starting today...a big plunge...a plunge without any of the normal stuff that most of us eat.
Why? Well, maybe it was the feeling that all my clothes were tighter than I wanted them to be. Maybe it was looking at pictures from a few years back and thinking, "WOW, what happened?" Maybe it just feeling tired and sluggish and not like myself. Whatever the straw that was that broke my proverbial camel's back, I've decided to make a change today and start a sugar detox program to jump start my health back on the right track.
In fact, it's a little more complex than a Sugar Detox; it's a sugar/flour/processed carbs/alcohol/caffeine detox. I know I can handle going without alcohol for 10 days, even processed carbs, and yes...probably sugar too. But caffeine? REALLY? I don't think I've gone a day without coffee or a diet coke since around 1994.
But sometime to get what you want, you have to try some things...so here goes.
I've had my smoothie for breakfast, and have my portion controlled salad for lunch with some veggies and almonds as snacks. I know I CAN do this, but seriously...I have a craving for a venti iced coffee from Starbucks like nobody's business, and I'm just a little foggy. Hopefully that'll pass.
If you've ever done this before - the sugar detox, the cleanse diet, the WHATEVER - drop me a note and let me know how it went for you! I'd love any tips on foods or recipes on how you got through...or more importantly...tips on willpower!
So here goes... feel free to reach out anytime right here.
I can't believe this news. I just CAN'T BELIEVE it. Being Italian, and being raised on this item since birth, I'm getting depressed just THINKING about the information. But as you know, science doesn't lie. And apparently, eating PASTA could make you depressed. Tear :(
Check out this report from ABC News with all the details. While you do, I'll be crying in my fettucine. Pass the kleenex...
You may have heard the story from over the weekend about the 9-year old boy that somehow SNUCK through TSA in Minneapolis, and boarded a flight from Minneapolis to Las Vegas before he was FINALLY caught. (Doesn't make you feel too safe in the airport, does it?!?!)
It IS a tattoo, but not a permanent one. The design is made of an ancient herb called Henna, which has been used as a cosmetic hair dye and as makeup for over 6,000 years in Egypt and India. The picture on the left is another example of a Henna tattoo which this girl had designed AROUND her permanent tat. It generally lasts from 2-4 weeks, so by the time we're carving our pumpkins, expect Cee Lo's head to be back to "just plain bald." Or, maybe something else for another 2-4 weeks.
(Note to self: this could be a GREAT way to prank someone that you've just gotten a tattoo. Teenagers who like to add shock value to their parents' lives...take note!)
