Props to LIBERTY...AGAIN!

if you were listening and following along with our inaugural Christmas Choir Competition in December, you heard the great news that LIBERTY High School was our first winner in the competition, and received a $5,000 donation to their school music program courtesy of the Youth Symphony of Kansas City.

What you MIGHT NOT have heard on the radio, though, was just how gracious and supportive their school WAS of this big honor for the choir.  Our promotions team, Steven Murray from the Youth Symphony of Kansas City, and I, dropped off the official $5,000 check with their director, Dr. Rika Heruth today.  As the student body assembled in the gymnasium to hear the choir perform, you could sense the support and goodwill the students echoed to their peers today.  I didn't feel like I was walking through a stereotypical school where the "jocks" were "jocks," the "choir kids" were "choir kids"...et cetera...there was a sense of pride and respect that was refreshing, and quite eye opening.  (I didn't get the sense that this was a "show" for the radio station people in either!)

So, in short, hats off to Liberty High School.  You have an incredibly talented Concert Choir who is going to be able to compete and participate in some fantastic events that will enrich its members lives because of their fine talent.  And moreover, you have a student body who cares and supports one another -- and beyond a donation or a check or a few mentions on the radio -- that's really what matters.
