A local family in Shawnee could have lost their lives if it weren’t for two young boys.
Damien Duncan, age 8, and his younger brother Daryn Duncan, age 7, saw a house on fire and then quickly told their mother about the fire, who called 911, ultimately saving the family.
Yesterday, members of Shawnee City Hall rewarded the brothers with certificates and thank you’s for their life-saving work.
Also as a reward, their mother, Brandi Young, says that she is now going to let the boys stay up a little later than normal and allow them play video games – CHA CHING!
Appropriately enough, Damien said he wants to be a firefighter when he grows up and Daryn said he wants to be a police officer.
