If you were watching "The Biggest Loser" last night like my wife and I...you better enjoy it while it's here!
TMZ is reporting this morning that the remaining cast is threatening to walk out because the Producers revealed a loophole in the plan where contestants who've been eliminated can still compete for the $250,000 grand prize.
I'm no legal expert here, but I have a feeling they'll try to get this solved faster than you can say P-LY-O-M-E-T-R-I-C-S! Stay tuned for more...
As we're relatively new to KC, my wife and I are always getting recommended places to try. So in honor of Mardi Gras -- or Fat Tuesday -- today, I thought we'd recommend a few of the places people have recommended to us that we've ABSOLUTELY fallen in love with. (And no -- they're not all cajun styled -- but they're all AWESOME!)
Our top 5 places we like to hit up when we're heading out or entertaining friends who are visiting are...
5.) JACK STACK - Multiple locations
Enough said, right? Gates, Arthur Bryants, and Oklahoma Joes are all great for the downhome BBQ feel, but if you're looking for a nice sit-down meal, Jack Stack is it. They could pipe cheesy corn through my VEINS and I would be a happy man!
4.) INGREDIENT - 4807 Jefferson Street on The Plaza, plus other locations Downtown, in Leawood, and Lawrence
HEALTHY food for Mardi Gras? YEEEEEEEEEEESSSSSSSSSS...it's healthy...but it's darn tasty too! If you're feeling like you need a BBQ break, the salads and fresh sandwiches are perfect for lunch. And one of the best parts -- NO TIPPING? Yep; they'd prefer you do a good deed. Kinda cool!
3.) JAZZ - 1823 W. 39th, KC, MO
This is probably the most AUTHENTIC Cajun food you can find in KC -- and definitely a great choice tonight for Mardi Gras! Since my wife works at KU Med, her and her doctor friends like to check out the happy hours too. (You HAVE to try the Jambalaya. HEAVEN.)
2.) McCOYS - 4057 Pennsylvania in Westport
McCoys has become our favorite "chill" restaurant. It's an upscale grill and bar that you could compare to many of the chains out there, but the food is so much better, and they have some fantastic local beers on tap (if you prefer to drink your way through Mardi Gras!)
1.) CALIFORNO'S - 4124 Pennsylvania in Westport
We got married at Californo's, so naturally, it holds a special place in our heart...but it's not just that memory...it's the food too! We've had some of the best steaks in our LIFE there, the wedge salad is great, and pianist Marilyn Wood always makes it a fun night with some live entertainment in the dining room. They have Mardi Gras activities going as well, so try the restaurant sometime soon. (And if you find our "wedding brick" outside, BONUS points for you!)
Those are just a FEW of our Kansas City favorites so far. As we continue to build our lives and make our home here, I'm sure we'll come up with a TON more. Of course, I'd love to hear some of your favorites for Mardi Gras -- or for anytime! Make sure to list 'em right here on our Facebook Page...and laissez les bon temps rouler!
They were practically the only other POINT artists to get any attention at the Grammy awards last weekend...now they could be taking home a trophy from YOUR KIDS!
We learned today that Lady Antebellum was nominated as "Best Musical Group" for Nickelodeon's Kids' Choice awards, to air on March 31st. They're up against Big Time Rush, Black Eyed Peas, and LMFAO. (Lucky for them -- Adele isn't a GROUP -- so she can't win THIS one!)
Check out the nominees and tell your kids to vote HERE.
We can all agree that Adele sings about some pretty sad stuff, right? And maybe -- JUST maybe -- some of her songs have brought us to tears, right? (NOT me of course ;-) But who knew that her songs would have the same affect on dogs as they do on humans!
This is Rocco, a little French Bulldog, who gets obviously moved by "Someone Like You." SO sad...but if you're a dog person like me...pretty darn cute too.
Have you noticed the latest TV ad where Kansas City gets a nice SHOUT OUT? If you're like me and usually DVR a lot of shows, you may have missed it...but I did notice this ad for the iPhone 4S the other night during the Grammys. The concept: use Siri, the phone's navigator, as your personal navigator for a summer road trip. Watch about 6 seconds in:
No word on whether or not she replied by saying "Oklahoma Joes," "Gates," or "Arthur Bryant's," but we'll leave that up to YOUR interpretation!
It's been a few years since "Cribs" was on MTV...but CBS News has taken a similar approach to in a new segment they call "Person To Person." And they picked a pretty cool person to feature...Jon Bon Jovi! Watch here and see inside his awesome house.
We'll be seeing a myriad of different Super Bowl commercials popping up over the next few days leading up to the game, but not many are getting quite as much attention as THIS ONE, with Matthew Broderick. If you'll remember the line from Ferris Bueller("How could I handle school on a day like today?"), it appears he's BACK as Ferris in this commercial! Watch the the clip now...and keep an eye out for him in the game!
On the left, a picture of a much younger man who's currently running for President. On the right, Rainn Wilson, who portrays the always-shifty, slightly-conniving, yet awkwardly-awkward Dwight Schrute on the office. Now, lock in your votes...who do you think that is on the left? Start scrolling down.
(Vote locked in yet?)
(Good!)
(No changing, ok? Good. Here goes...)
The correct answer...
Yep...it's NEWT GINGRICH!
The former Speaker of the House, whose campaign has seen a surge after a primary victory in South Carolina was "down with the Schruteness" as a younger guy.
(And at the risk of getting political...I think I might vote for Schrute before I'd vote for Newt. Just sayin'.)
